5 Ideas to Continue That Summer Feeling!
The days may be flipping quickly to autumn (astronomical fall in the northern hemisphere is September 22!) but we’re aching for more summer!
There will be plenty of time for fun fall activities like pumpkin carving and apple cider sipping – I mean who doesn’t love the season full of eye popping colorful leaves and sensual smells like cinnamon, clove and wood smoke? But, if you’re like us and not ready to let go of summer just yet here are some ideas to keep feeling like summer!
1. DIY Key Lime Whipped Coconut Oil Body butter
Summer is a skin baring sensual season and what better way to extend the season by whipping up a little body butter with key lime and coconut especially if your skin is feeling a little dry from the summer heat! And, better still, since we love anything “skin friendly” these ingredients are all natural… double love!
2. Wear something sexy
Nothing screams summer like silk! Now that your skin is glowing go ahead pull out your favorite flirty summertime outfit! Going on a date? It’s not too late in the season for a leg baring slip dress like a chemise, throw a shawl or sweater in your bag for the cooler evening. Our next go to summertime outfit? You guessed it… the cami and tap! As you may know we would wear this cute combo anywhere even down the ski slopes! But, summer, well this is the time you can really flaunt it while relaxing under the sheets, the couch or sipping your favorite summertime cocktail.
3. Swing in a hammock
That’s so summer! What better way to spend a warm afternoon than in a hammock… don’t have one? Check out these from Real Simple. You can get one for small spaces, to bring with you on your next hike and even one that can hold the whole family! Spending a leisurely day outside will really make you feel like summer is still hanging around! Need something to read? Definitely one of our favorite summer activities… lounging and reading!
4. Ride a bike
The beach isn’t the only place to enjoy the sunshine, pump up those tires and get outside. Don’t know where to go? Try these end-of-summer-bike-rides from Bicycling Magazine. Enjoy an ice cream tour or brewery ride! A bike ride to a baseball game definitely shouts summer! And, we don’t want to brag but the Boston Red Sox are doing pretty well so if you’re in Beantown to catch a game, Fenway offers a bike valet.
5. Wear Flip-Flops
Nothing says casual and summer like a great pair of flip flops so grab yours, put on some Jimmy Buffet and go dance on the porch with your watermelon margarita! Your neighbors may think you’re crazy or join you for an impromptu block party! Summer’s not getting away just yet!
