Not all silks and cottons are made alike. We search far and wide to find the best silks, cottons, micro modals, laces, whatever we are using, and have them woven to our specifications. What you get is a garment that drapes beautifully, feels fabulous, and lasts a very long time. Because we want you to be happy that nothing comes between you and your Julianna Rae garments.
Our cotton sateen is a soft, glossy cotton fabric with a lustrous finish made by an extra process of smoothing the yarn. There are two factors to making a good woven cotton – thread count and the raw cotton fibers. We make ours with a higher than average thread count and start with a long staple fine cotton for extra softness, durability, and drape. Incredibly easy to keep clean, our cotton sateen is cool, comfortable, and has a high degree of breath-ability to keep the customer climate controlled. How to care: Cotton is one of the easiest care fabrics. Just machine wash and dry. Because our cottons are made from extremely fine fibers, we recommend machine washing in cold water in the gentle cycle. To decrease wrinkles, dry on low heat and remove promptly. Iron as needed. With proper care, the print, color, and fabric should last for years. All our cottons get softer with each washing.
Our Egyptian cotton is the cotton fiber with the longest and strongest staple, resulting in the softest, most luxurious cotton. It is grown in Egypt and is known for its fine quality and silk-like feel. This fabric actually gets smoother and softer with each washing. How to Care: Cotton is one of the easiest care fabrics. Machine wash and dry. Because our cottons are made from extrememly fine fibers, we recommend machine washing in cold water in the gentle cycle. To decrease wrinkles, dry on low heat and remove promptly. Iron as needed.
Our Cotton LycraTM is a breathable and flexible high-quality knit and has a wonderful soft touch. In addition, we add a high stretch content so you can have that extra movment and to ensure smooth, cling-free drape wear after wear and wash after wash. How to care: Machine wash in cold water in the gentle cycle or hand wash. Do not bleach. Hang to dry.
Our silk is a fabric that makes its own statement. It is beautifully elegant and luxurious and feels incredibly soft and sensual. For our silk charmeuse, we use a higher than average "thread count" for our silk (19mm) so it looks richer, fits more beautifully with a better drape, and feels even more indulgent. Most lingerie companies will use between 11mm and 16mm weight silk. How to care: Our silks are certainly dry cleanable. However, all our silks are hand washable. Silk does not shrink like other fibers. With proper care, our silks should last longer than most of us! Use a good colorless shampoo works as a detergent on silk. It will remove oil and revitalize your silk. Caution: Do not use an alkaline shampoo or one which contains ingredients such as wax, petroleum, or their derivatives, as these products will leave a residue on your silk and may cause "oil" spots. When washing our silk, try not to wring it. Roll it in a towel when done to remove excess water. Lay flat to dry. Silk dries quickly so please do not put it in the dryer. Iron on the wrong side at low temperature.
Our Silk Crepe is made of silk yarns tightly twisted together during weaving which produces a tiny pebbly texture to create a lightweight fabric with a great deal of surface interest. Fabric is soft, has an excellent drape, and captures colors and prints beautifully. For this fabric, we use a 14mm weight (due to the weave, crepe is a lighter weight fabric and appreciated for it’s soft but “spongy” touch).
How to care: If you prefer to dry clean, by all means, do so! However, all our silks are hand washable. Follow the directions from How to Care in the silk category directly above.
Our micro modal modal is a soft cellulose fiber made from a naturally regenerating raw material – wood! We make ours from micro thin fibers to give it a natural silky sheen and an incredibly soft and smooth feel. The fabric is light weight yet wrinkle free, durable, and machine washable and dryable. An extra plus: it absorbs 33% more liquid than cotton and transports it four times faster keeping the fabric – and you – dry and comfortable. How to care: Just because it’s beautiful doesn’t mean it has to be high maintenance. Machine wash in cold water in the gentle cycle; tumble dry low.
